Eshane Project

Eshane project was an LED initiative based at Umvoti Local Municipality intended at converting an area that was formerly a trading centre into a fuel garage run by the TOTAL South Africa (TSA) Company. The process of economically converting the area required cleaning up the area and preparing the groundwork for the garage construction. Sabalala Consulting was the stakeholder facilitator, to ensure that the project is implemented successfully and sustainably.  

 

Sithembile Road Upgrade

The Sithembile Road Upgrade Project is based in Glencoe location named Sithembile, The project is about the construction of access roads, concrete drain and upgrade of a main Road. Sabalala Consulting has been contracted to manage social implications of the construction project. This involves constituting community based committees, ensuring localized labor recruitment, as well as management of ongoing dialogue between communities and the construction senior staffs until the project is complete.

 

Informal trade survey

The Informal business survey project was an initiative intended at finding out the challenges faced by informal traders around Umvoti Municipality, specifically within Greytown and Kransko. Carried out in Umzinyati District, the survey further intended to find out what the Municipality can do to help overcome the challenges faced by informal traders, but also to improve their environment for better income businesses. Sabalala Consulting proposed, and conducted the survey, in the broad framework of finding Local Economic Development options for Umvoti municipality.

 

SMME Support

Sabalala Consulting was contracted to assist small enterprises in Umvoti Municipality in:

• Pre-Financing SMME’s – Assist them in getting started financially, including guiding them on where and how to access funding.
• Accessing Markets - Assist existing SMME’s on marketing their products through Exhibition and shows.
• Capacity – Assisting entrepreneurs already in business in developing their skills further.

 

Dannhauser and Umvoti LED Strategy formulation and Implementation

Sabalala consulting Africa has been contracted by the Dannhauser as well as Umvoti municipalities to formulate the municipalities LED strategy and facilitate implementation. This involves setting up of an LED stakeholders  forum.

 

Formulation of Economic framework for Amajuba and Ingwe Municipalities  

Sabalala Consulting Africa has been working with Amajuba and Ingwe municipalities in formulation of an economic framework for the key economic sectors. Phase one of these projects has been conducting of situational analysis of the respective municipalities. Phase one is now complete for both, phase two is in its preliminary stages.
